What are wood pellets?

Wood pellets are an energy fuel made from compressed wood fibers. Wood pellets can be burned in wood pellet boilers, furnaces, and pellet stoves. Wood pellets are used to heat homes, businesses and commercial premises. Wood pellets and pellet fuel are a type of biomass. This means they are made from ever-growing renewable resources.

EcoPellets Tasmania responsibly uses recycled wood to make pellet fuel. Our manufacturing process prevents waste from entering landfills. This makes it possible to produce a green, environmentally friendly heat source.

What are premium wood pellets?

Any pellet product labelled as premium must be able to demonstrate that they have passed or exceeded the European standards for wood pellet fuel. This means that our premium pellets were tested by third-party labs. During testing, we found that our pellets were 6.9% lower in moisture, 6.9% lower in fat, less than 1% in ash, and had a high thermal energy value (up to 20.2 MJ/kg – dry basis). Pellets are reviewed regularly to maintain quality labels.

Why burn high-quality wood pellets?

High-quality pellets burn cleanly. Burnt pellets produce very little ash and emissions. Choosing high-quality pellets will help you get the most heat out of the pellets.

You may also find that pellets are more cost-effective than wood chips or cordwood. Because they are made from compressed wood, wood pellets are less expensive to handle and transport than other wood heating sources. The cost of distributing wood pellets is generally lower than wood chips.
