Have you ever considered changing your shavings & straw to wood pellets? Wood pellets are made from compressed wood sawdust and are sold in 15kg bags, to which you add water to activate them. Following are a few advantages that you would like to know…

Absorbency

Wood pellets can absorb up to three times their own weight in liquid. However, this figure was obtained by independent testing and might not be true for all horse pellets on the market – it’s still significantly more absorbent than most other types of horse bedding.

Hygiene

Wood pellets are heated to a high temperature during manufacture, meaning any bugs are killed off. That’s the major plus from a veterinary perspective. The pellets’ moisture content is low & consistent which are good for horses’ feet and wood pellets have better air quality than other types of horse bedding.

Time

The wet patches can be found in a wood pellet bed easily, which means you don’t have to scrabble around – and can remove them without replace the whole bed.

Cost

You can always buy in bulk bags from wood pellet companies. This is a good way of making cost saving. It costs around $400 for a 750kg bulk bag which is significantly cheaper than most brands of shavings.
